Matthew 1:5-6. Salmon became the father of Boaz by Rahab [from Jericho]. Boaz became the father of Obed by Ruth [from Moab]. Obed became the father of Jesse. Jesse became the father of King David.
Matthew 1:21. You shall call his name Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:23. “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall give birth to a son. They shall call his name Immanuel;” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
Matthew 3:4. John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

Matthew 4:1-4. Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward. The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”
